Kurosagi

Again, with my growing obsession with the Yamapi x Maki = YaMaki ship after watching Nobuta wo Produce, I looked for another jdorama where the two of them are paired and I found Kurosagi (The Black Swindler).

It didn’t look much of a romance jdorama but it didn’t matter as long as Yamapi and Maki are the lead pair. The first episodes were already action-packed. What got me more hooked was the introduction of Maki’s character, Yoshikawa Tsurara, being the one who would make a big difference in Kurosaki’s swindler life.

IYF Korean Cultural Exchange Part 1

1 response, Apr 28, 2008

There’s a 5-day free Korean class here in Angeles City care of the International Youth Fellowship. I missed the class today because I didn’t wake up early T T But I still attended the Korean Cultural Exchange a while ago at 7pm until 10pm.

It was really a one-of-a-kind experience for me. I never thought I would be exposed to such Korean-ness here in the Philippines. The IYF students performed Korean and Chinese traditional dances. The fan dance of Korea was performed and they even used the song “오나라 o na ra” from 대장금 Dae Jang Geum.

After, while waiting for the next part of the program, the MC asked for any Filipino in the audience who can sing a Korean song. I never liked being the centre of attention so I didn’t bother raising my hand but my friends kept pointing at me and I had no choice. I didn’t want to spoil the night for anyone especially the Koreans. They might think Filipinos are a bunch of kill-joys.

As I walked to the stage, I was rummaging inside my head for a song that I already memorised. I couldn’t think of one as there are too many songs I am familiar with. The first song that came into my mind when the MC asked me was 풍선 Balloons by TVXQ so I was forced to sing the chorus. At first, I was singing a capella and it was really scary. My knees were shivering the way they would when I’m in Alaska. And so to rescue me from my nervous breakdown (pun intended), the Koreans did what they did best when someone in a Noraebang sings: clap. They clapped to the beat of what I was singing and soon enough, the Filipinos also started clapping. I’m really thankful so I ended the song with a “고맙습니다 gomapsumnida.”
