Nobody Would Read Your Blog the Way You Do

3 responses, Aug 18, 2008

I just thought about this after watching Haruhi…

Haruhi once watched a baseball game and noticed that there were so many people right in that stadium and she was but a speck compared to the crowd. That stadium was also just a speck compared to the world. How big could the world get? How little could you possibly be?

Not only was I just one little person in that sea of people in that stadium… but that sea of people… was merely a drop in the ocean. -Haruhi

And so while doing a regular check-up on my blog, I noticed that nobody would probably read each and every word of your blog the way you yourself do. There’s nothing one could possibly do unless you’ve got stalkers behind you. I’m not saying this is a bad thing either. It’s just that, I realized that maybe, just maybe, personal blogs are probably more of an emotional outlet than a literary piece for people to read.

Oh, and I’m not emo. ^_^

What Have Social Networking Sites Become?

I do not know of any word to name what sites such as Friendster, MySpace, Facebook, and Hi5 have become.

snsIf I’m not mistaken, the main purpose of these sites is to let you connect with your real friends and acquaintances, old friends who you probably haven’t seen for a while, or even some online friends you might have met through blogs or forums. I’ve never heard of sites, not even Web 2.0 sites considering how weird and innovative some of the Web 2.0 sites are, that serve as online popularity contest arenas.

I find it amsuing that some would add up good-looking people treating them as collector’s items. What’s even more amusing is the fact that some good-looking people do accept their requests therefore labelling themselves as collector’s items. I guess this just serves as living proof to the very earthly nature of humans: judging books by their covers.

What’s in Starbucks

You can read it either way: What is in Starbucks? or What is in? Starbucks

Whoever would not know what a Starbucks is could already be considered an outcast in the society. Even in a third-world country that I dwell in, there would always be this coffee shop with a green round logo signifying the class and style that most people of today would like to have. My economics teacher has once said, “It’s in every corner.”

Yesterday marks the second time I’ve set foot in one of the countless Starbucks shops here in the Philippines. The first time has been less than a decade ago and I was with my aunt then. Back then, I only got a slice of chocolate cake (forgive me for being generic) being the little kid that I was. Yesterday, I was with my friends and no, I did not get anything this time. I did not even last a couple of minutes inside. For some reason, I thought I did not know my surroundings. And so I went outside with a couple of my friends who apparently think the same.
