Korean Marts’ Free Newspapers

I might have already mentioned before that a Korean mart (Sing Sing Mart 싱싱마트) lies on the ground floor of the condominium I’m living in (Cityland Pioneer). That’s one of the major reasons why I love staying in Manila.

After school, I immediately rushed to the Korean mart to buy a couple of Shin Ramen 신라면 cups and my ever-favorite addictive MyChew 마이쮸.

I remember asking my Korean classmate back in high school how to get copies of Korean newspapers as I’ll be having the need to practice my Korean comprehension skills. He told me that they just get it free from the Korean mart. I barely believed. I mean, being used to the Filipino culture, anything free is almost a miracle.

An Occupied Freshman Blogger

No, it is not read as unoccupied freshman blogger.

It has only been my first two weeks as a freshie in Ateneo and it felt like it has already been a semester. My life back in high school is way too far from the college life I’m living right now.

Some may have noticed how inactive I have become with blogging. I barely go online these past couple of weeks. I’ve only been online for the sake of getting in touch with my high school friends and reading the latest chapters of the Naruto manga. No, we don’t get loads of homework, yet. But even so, I wouldn’t say I’m not too occupied right now even if today is faculty day in the Ateneo and I’m here blogging away from Pampanga while there is rare free time.

I Still Love My Own Country

3 responses, Jun 12, 2008

I would never let this day pass without acknowledging the 110th anniversary of my own country as an independent country.

I know I’ve always been dreaming of Korea and Japan and I feel like riding on clouds whenever I do but even so, I never failed to keep my feet on the ground - the same ground from which gave birth to the Filipino culture and the very same ground wherein blood was shed for the independence of the Filipinos of today.

Aside from the free MRT and LRT rides which I did not bother to patronize but, in behalf of those who did, am thankful for anyway, this day for me is special because it commemorates the freedom that our fathers have fought for the Filipinos of today.

The Philippines is not a hateful country. The only flaw I find in this country is the government but the Philippines itself is beautiful. The culture is beautiful. The land is beautiful. The people are beautiful. Even foreigners think so. I think we all need a break from these political issues and for once, let the natural beauty of the Philippines emanate from us Filipinos - with no tint of politics, hopelessness and depression. After all, we Filipinos are known for smiling even amidst the worst of scenarios. :)
