People’s Irony
9 responses, Apr 08, 2008I have been a spectator of various situations wherein our country is compared to foreign countries in terms of honor, success, economy and every factor a country needs to have at its best. Foreign countries are usually talked about by others with pride or awe as if they themselves are natives of that country whereas they are in full awareness of the blood running through their veins – the same blood that have been shed over the past centuries. And yet, the minute their own country makes its way into the nation-praising discussion, all the admiration in the air suddenly disappears and hopelessness and contempt would take its place.
I’ve been hearing from various people about countries that are exceptionally clean as opposed to our country. Singapore, as many would say and with personal experience as basis, is one of the most cleansed countries in the world. In that country, the act of spitting alone would guarantee your spot behind the bars wherein doing it here would’ve done nothing but satisfy the need for an emergency sink as well as publicly sharing mouth waste (whatever it may contain) among the passers-by. And yet we all want to be as tidy as Singapore. Anyone who wouldn’t want to might not be in his right thinking.
